August Shoot Out

So, I hosted my second Photographer's Shoot Out last weekend. I had been SO excited for it since the first one in June was so amazing. Unfortunately, things happen. I had high hopes for attendance but there just was not the interest this time. Therefore, this was my last one! I will still do styled sessions for my own portfolio, but as far as inviting others goes, I am done with that for now. :)
As soon as we arrived at the location and unloaded the car, the wind began to ferociously blow. Then it started to rain a bit. The wind was SO frustrating. I was trying to set up a tent/canopy and it just wasn't happening. (Thank you to my friends the Wimmers for helping me with the damn tent). I finally decided to take the stuff into their amazing old chicken coops where, much to my surprise, it ended up being even more amazing than I imagined.
Like my friend Shay said: "Sometimes it takes something bad to happen for something amazing to come out of it." Thanks, Shay!
In the end, I was SUPER happy with everything- my model (of course), makeup & hair (Thank you for braving the elements, girls!), the location, and all the images I was able to capture. Let's not forget the beautiful and fabulous lighting that shown through the clouds after the hurricane-like winds.
Although this was my last Shoot Out that was open to the public, I do love styling shoots and will do so for clients upon request.

The theme for the August Shoot Out was Hippie + Gypsy and we worked hard to be sure that style translated through the photos, from wardrobe, to location, to hair and makeup. I am ecstatic with all the images!

A HUGE thank you to Starlette for being my model and my muse.
Sam Anne for the fabulous makeup.
Erin Blake for the rad hairdo.
The Wimmers for not only allowing me to invade their space/home/land but always asking if I need help and never hesitating to help me with anything and everything.
Last but not least, my mom and best friend for coming and snapping some pics along side of me. That was amazing and I haven't had that much fun in a long time. LOVE YOU, MAMA!
THANK YOU!!!
